DEDICATED TO SAVING LIVES |
Mission Statement |
The Pike County Search and Rescue team is a unit dedicated to saving lives through search and rescue. The team is composed totally of volunteers and is available upon request 24 hrs. a day for search and rescue operations anywhere in Arkansas, or in other states and countries under local authority. The members train and practice a variety of skills used in wilderness and urban search and rescue operations. These skills include land navigation, use of technical rope rescue systems, man-tracking, water rescue, swift water rescue, all terrain vehicle operation, K9, search operation management, radio communication, survival, and first aid. We expect members to be prepared to operate in the field at search operations, autonomously. Besides training extensively in search and rescue techniques, members work diligently to improve their emergency medical capability. Most members are certified to the First Responder level, many are Emergency Medical Technicians, and some Paramedics. The unit is an independent, non-profit organization. Our members donate their time and equipment for training and emergency operations.
